Join us for the Old Dominion Meet Association’s 66th Annual Meet.
It will be Friday-Saturday, June 7-8, 2019 in Newport News, Virginia.
The meet is being held at The Holiday Inn Newport News, City Center, 980 Omni Boulevard, Newport News, Virginia 23606. Pre-registration is required for auto judging and participation in the banquet. Download the registration form and schedule here or at www.odma.aaca.com. Fill out the form and mail it along with a check for you fees to the address noted on the form

The Holiday Inn is off of George Washington Memorial Highway, (Route 17) and also easily navigated from Interstate 64. Click here for map.  The show field is adjacent to the hotel on the grounds of ECPI University. Trailer parking is across the street in the Children’s Hospital of the Kings Daughters (CHKD) parking lot. Vendors, car market and food trucks will be set up close to the show field.

Room rates are $135.00 for all rooms. Buffet breakfast is included for 2. Additional occupants in a room can receive the buffet breakfast for $7.00 per person. AACA Judging School will be available late Friday afternoon, June 7, 2019 at 4:00PM at the hotel You will receive judging credit for attending the class and this will also enable you to judge at AACA National shows for the remainder of 2019.

Enjoy your dinner at the Burger Theory restaurant, City Center area, or on your relaxing ride to our venue, but also plan on joining us for a unique dessert bar social ($15) 7:30 p.m.- 9:00 p.m. Friday evening, June 7, 2019. Continue the social atmosphere at the Burger Theory fire pit patio,

On show day, Saturday June 8, 2019, lunch will be offered by food vendors on site or you can enjoy a delicious lunch at Burger Theory in the Holiday Inn hotel.

After the show, the awards banquet ($40 per person) is 6:30 p.m. Saturday June 8, 2019 in the Holiday Inn with a social hour (cash bar) from 5:30-6:30. The gift drawing will conclude at the end of the banquet.

Gypsy Vanner Horses that were originally bred in England to pull 
Gypsy Caravan Wagons during the 19th century.

 Round-trip bus transportation to the famous Silver Springs State Park just outside Ocala affords a look at a 200-acre park that was one of the 

main tourist attractions in Florida before Disney arrived.
 
Saturday is the Winter Meet at the College of Central Florida, Ocala, FL.

  • First Lady’s Breakfast: AACA First Lady June Peterson-Crane will host this Friday morning breakfast tradition in the Horizons Ballroom on the top floor of the hotel. June’s guest speaker is Constance Smith, the author of Damsels in Design: Women Pioneers in the Automotive Industry, 1939-1959. Constance herself is a former General Motors designer. We have a feeling you will not want to miss this! This event is open to all members – you just need to purchase your tickets.
  • Special Focus on Women in Automotive History! AACA First Lady June Peterson-Crane wanted to do something special at this year’s Annual Meeting and has put together a track of seminars focused on Women in Automotive History. The seminars include topics such as female automotive innovators and the racing career and life of Joan Newton Cuneo. They will focus on the contributions women have made to the auto industry, as well as the influence they have had on cars and this hobby.
  • 53 Educational Seminars! Topics include: restoration and maintenance tips, market value trends, estate planning, several automobilia & collection topics, spray chrome, modern motor oils, battery care, cleaning tips, touring safely, collector car fraud, buying & selling cars at auction, using the internet to find what you need, several AACA judging-related topics, automotive upholstery and much more!
  • National Awards Banquet: A chance to celebrate and honor our members’ achievements in grand style – 66 car-related awards, 20 service awards and 37 master editor and webmaster awards will be presented this year!

Fall Charlotte Auto Fair Date Change

Charlotte AutoFair Fall Date Change
The Hornets Nest Region, AACA is pleased to announce the Fall Charlotte AutoFair collector vehicle flea market and car show will change to October beginning with 2019.  Charlotte AutoFair will take place Thursday-Friday-Saturday October 17-19, 2019 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.  The Fall event change will not affect the Spring Charlotte AutoFair schedule which will continue as planned for April.  Charlotte AutoFair is the huge Southeast collector vehicle event well known nationally as one of the premier automotive events.   
The Carolina Blue October days will include delightful weather for Charlotte AutoFair with sunshine and a hint of fall in the air.  A benefit to all hobbyists will be the great consecutive weekends of Carlisle, Hershey and Charlotte collector vehicle flea markets.  This will allow automotive vendors to travel easily between these three venues to provide their services to all hobbyists and restorers. 
Spring Charlotte AutoFair will take place Thursday thru Sunday April 4-7, 2019 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.  Spring and Fall schedules for 2019-2024 may be viewed at charlotte-autofair.com.

Project 55 Dodge fire truck on Display at Historic Yorktown

The York County “Project 55 ” restored 1955 Dodge Fire Truck is pictured along side Yorktown residents George and Linda Bennett’s 1949 Daimler DB 18 car during the Christmas Parade at the Christmas market on Main Street in the Yorktown Historic District on Saturday morning, December 1.2018. The Bennett’s Daimler joined George McCaulley’s 1955 Buick Special and John Wyatt’s 1950 Ford F1 Truck from the Historic Virginia Peninsula Region – AACA (HVPR-AACA) for the enjoyment of the droves of shoppers that attended the market. HVPR members were part of the team that worked on the “Project 55” Fire truck’s restoration.
